MODERN HEROINE AT FORBES THIS MONDAY

Forbes Library in Northampton is hosting three mystery authors from Sisters in Crime New England (including New York Times best-selling author Julia Spencer-Fleming) for a discussion of the modern heroine this Monday evening, May 7, 2012 at 7 pm.

Single mothers, cops, attorneys, journalists - today's heroines balance relationships and careers, leap over sexist obstacles, and rescue themselves from danger. Women authors are redefining the genre.
Find out how they create strong women characters.

Jim Ciullo, a brother in crime from Pittsfield and former Peace Corps volunteer in Venezuela, whose novels include ORINOCO and MARACAIBO, based on his Peace Corps experience, and feature strong women characters.

Vicki Doudera, a top producing broker for a firm on the coast of Maine and former Realtor of the Year, whose books include A HOUSE TO DIE FOR and KILLER LISTING, featuring amateur sleuth Darby Farr, a red-hot agent making multimillion dollar deals while solving bloody crimes.

Julia Spencer-Fleming, New York Times best-selling author of seven Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne novels, which include IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER, and her most recent, ONE WAS A SOLDIER, which has won countless awards.

This program is free and open to the public and is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. For more information contact Lisa at ldowning@forbeslibrary.org.
